Signs of Silverfish Damage
Silverfish feed primarily on things that contain starches. They are attracted to glue, book bindings, paper, sugar and textiles. Silverfish can destroy silks, cotton and other fabrics and may feast upon leather in the event of a famine.
Silverfish inhabit dark, damp areas such as closets, attics and basements and will feed upon paper and linen stores in these locations. If you suspect a silverfish infestation, examine any boxes or bags containing papers or old clothing.
A pest control expert should be contacted upon first sign of silverfish damage, regardless of severity. These insects reproduce rapidly, and in order to best control them, seek professional treatment.
