NAAEI and Orkin to Offer Integrated Pest Management Training
Knowledge to help multifamily managers keep pests out with less chemicals, earn continuing education credit.
Atlanta-based pest control company Orkin and the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) have teamed up to provide multifamily property managers with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) training to help them keep pests out of their properties. IPM is an environmentally conscious approach that combines a number of prevention and control methods with chemical pesticides only used as a last resort. The one-hour IPM course translates into one credit toward the NAAEI’s Credential for Green Property Management.
In the online, video-based training, Orkin Director of Technical Services Ron Harrison, Ph.D. and Rick Jordan, an Orkin expert in multifamily pest control, walk viewers through an apartment community and show them specifically how to implement an effective IPM program in their own communities.
“Many in the pest management industry have abandoned traditional practices of the past for a more environmentally friendly approach to controlling pests,” said Harrison. “IPM can effectively prevent pests in apartment environments with proactive measures and green treatments.”
NAAEI’s Credential for Green Property Management benefits on-site property managers, maintenance staff and other front-line staff that want to employ green operations and maintenance practices in their communities.
“More of our members are interested in green services in their communities as the multifamily industry continues to explore environmentally friendly practices,” said Maureen Lambe, NAAEI executive vice president. “IPM is a required component of The Credential for Green Property Management because it is a healthier alternative and an easy-to-implement practice that on-site apartment professionals can blend into their everyday routine.”
Property managers can access the IPM course training by visiting www.naahq.org/lms. The cost of the training is $29.
