Located in Lancaster, South Carolina, Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences researches and develops high quality products to support animal health. Since 1992, Nutramax has been an industry leader in setting and adhering to high standards in manufacturing and quality control.

Nutramax promotes a better quality of life for cats, dogs and horses through its unique line of products supporting joint, liver, digestive and skin and coat health. While wellness requirements vary greatly for each animal, Nutramax’s facilities consistently exceed manufacturing standards as the company strives to ensure that its products are produced and tested in accordance with regulations governing the industry—and pest control is a big part of that. Nutramax partnered with Orkin in 2010 to maintain an effective, proactive pest management program at its facilities.

To hear more about their program, we spoke with Brian Adams, Maintenance and Facilities Manager at Nutramax Laboratories.

Why is pest management so important to your business?

When Nutramax was established, we manufactured both consumer and veterinary products in the same facility, but when we expanded to South Carolina, we opened separate facilities solely dedicated to veterinary sciences. We operate under the same protocols as the more highly regulated consumer manufacturing plants and ensure that our efforts are in line with the standards set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). Pest management is a key area in ensuring that we operate at the highest level, manufacturing products that are safe for all pets.

Why did you choose Orkin?

We hold ourselves to high standards, so we ask a lot from our pest control company. When selecting a trusted provider, we knew that Orkin has the personnel and experience in our industry to get the job done.

How would you describe your partnership?

With that, we have the opportunity to track our program and determine if any changes need to be made to continue to improve.
